Winner Update: The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation
Hello everybody. It’s so good to be back here to give you an update. Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person. So, The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation is in honor of our daughter Julia Grace, who passed away in 2013 from a really rare genetic disease called I-cell, you’ve never heard of it I’m sure. It’s a disease that affects your whole body at a cellular level. She was 12 when she passed. She was supposed to live maybe until three or four, what the doctors told us, so she was our miracle baby. So, if you were here the last time, you know that our first track chair went to Alex who lived in Haymarket. Alex was able to go in his backyard for the first time, he was able to go on walks with his family, go fishing, take his little sister for rides and he lovingly called his track chair his Tank, so that’s what we call it. So, we’ll now refer to it as The Tank. Now, thanks to you all, because of the donation from winning last November, Carter and his family have chosen the next recipient for a Tank. He was diagnosed at birth with segmental spinal dysgenesis, I wanted to get that right. So, he’s paralyzed from the waist down. He’s a smart, funny, loving child who is in sixth grade, he loves Fortnite, playing X-Box with his friends and likes to try things that he’s never done before. So, you can imagine though, as a child, being paralyzed from the waist down, it’s been hard for him to try things he’s never done before. But he’s going to get a Tank and then this Tank is going to open up his entire world and it’s all because of you guys. So, if you’ll remember one of the quotes that I used last November is, “Freedom is the key to happiness.” And because of you, currently, Owen’s Tank is in production, we should receive it within the next three to four weeks and he’s going to receive a new tank because of your all’s generosity. So, thank you so much. We really, really appreciate it.
