Winner Update: Homeless Connections

As an organization, Homeless Connections had seen high demand for our services in 2017. We provided safe, temporary shelter to 565 people experiencing homelessness, including 88 families and 146 children.

In 2017, we were at capacity every night of the year, and our capacity is 78, so we were full 365 days of the year. When you invited me here in December, we were understaffed, and we were facing the likelihood of falling short of our budgeted income for the year. Never a good feeling when your demand for programs and services is so high.

As I’m standing in front of you, tonight, I’m happy to report that we are once again fully staffed, and not only achieved our budgeted income goal, but exceeded it for the year. Your contributions in December truly made a difference for Homeless Connections. And personally, I was overwhelmed by your generosity. And we’re going to be able to reach out to more of the individuals who are experiencing homelessness in our community.

I do hope that after tonight, you continue to stay connected to Homeless Connections and watch all of the innovative ideas that are happening to try and end and solve homelessness in our community. Thanks for having me back.
