Wilmington Donates $17,900.00

Through ImpactClub®, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine” and have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning a high-stakes competition. As a result, ImpactClub®, through Impact Venture Capitalism, has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.

Bobby Jean’s Kids
Bobby Jean Harvey
Encouraging Kids to Dream

As a social worker, I spent many years helping foster children. Along with the numerous other duties that go along with serving our foster children population, my work included: completing home studies for adoptions, placing children, and training and licensing foster parents. During my years completing these tasks and helping OUR community’s Foster Children through New Hanover County Department of Social Services and other counties, I always noticed how these children never did many of the “normal” activities that other children and I got to do as a child. For example, take piano, take karate classes, go to camps, and so on. But, it went deeper than that … I discovered that most of these children’s emotions were also a level below because they KNEW that these things existed but never could dream to make it reality! When I decided to do a career change from Social Work, I became a REALTOR. The years at the agency had made me wonder, “Why doesn’t anyone donate monies so HAPPY things could change here instead of the usual not-too-happy things for these children?” This is officially when Bobby Jean’s Kids sprang to life!

Paws Place Inc.
Peggy Durso
Dog Rescue

Located in the Winnabow, NC, Paws Place is a no-kill, non-profit shelter dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of dogs. We operate entirely on donations, volunteers, and an unending love for animals. Upon arrival, each of our dogs is fully vetted and examined. Before they are available for adoption, they are spayed or neutered, given all age-appropriate vaccinations, started on heart-worm preventative, microchipped, and showered with love and affection. Paw’s Place Inc. (DBA Paws Place Dog Rescue) was founded as a no-kill shelter in Brunswick Co. in 1999 by our founder, Nancy Janovetz. We obtained our 501(c)3 non profit status the same year. Since that time the workers and volunteers at Paws Place have worked diligently to rescue and find loving homes for many hundreds of dogs. We hope to build on this legacy in the future as we complete construction on our new indoor/outdoor facility in Winnabow.

Indo Jax Surf Charities
Jack Viorel
Surfing to Empowerment

IndoJax® is a family-owned and operated surf school and charity outreach program located in the Wilmington, NC area since 2006. We pride ourselves on safety, quality of instruction, and attention to detail. We enjoy being members of the surfing community along the Cape Fear Coast and do our best to improve the quality of life for the folks who live here, as well as do our part to make this a top-notch travel destination. The surrounding beaches here are beautiful, with white sand and warm water. We provide group and private surf and kite-board lessons, as well as a large number of charity camps for medically-fragile, atrisk, and special needs children. Our experienced and trained professional instructors work to empower medically fragile, special needs and at risk youth by exposing them to the ocean environment and learning to surf. The ocean holds healing properties and learning to surf holds life lessons you just can’t duplicate anywhere else. Participants in our program enter our program with reluctance and leave with a sense of… “If I can surf I can do anything!” We provide these camps free of charge for children who are blind, have autism, childhood cancer, wounded warriors, orphans, cerebral palsy and others.
