Purses With A Purpose Boise

“Every purse has a purpose; every woman has a dream.” Our mission is to provide purses/backpacks filled with basic hygiene necessities for struggling women and teens in the Treasure Valley, including those experiencing homelessness, refugees, women living in recovery centers and crisis centers, as well as those escaping from domestic abuse and sex trafficking, and those recently transitioning out of incarceration. Our purses/backpacks—which include items such as shampoo, deodorant, lotion, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes/toothpaste, soap, makeup, socks, mittens, and gift cards—are distributed through partnerships with area shelters, schools, and other nonprofit organizations. Our recipient organizations range from the prison release program to shelters assisting women and children in crisis and transition to local schools assisting homeless teens. Purses with a Purpose helps meet the most immediate and pressing needs of women experiencing a crisis, many of whom have recently experienced a major change in life circumstances and may have nothing to their name. In addition to meeting the basic hygiene needs of these women, each purse contains a written message of hope and encouragement. We believe this simple gesture of love is a reminder that every woman has inherent dignity and worth, no matter their circumstances.
