From Horse to Heart

Project Horse Empowerment Center is a non-profit that delivers outstanding mental health and wellness services by connecting children, teens and adults with therapy horses in order to build coping skills, deal with emotional, behavioral, or cognitive challenges, manage stress and enhance resiliency. Project Horse was founded in 2008, in partnership with a rescue horse who could no longer be ridden.

LVA-PW is an award winning adult literacy non-profit that has significantly impacted the lives of over 8,500 adults and 35,000 family members over the last 27 years. Our mission is to teach adults the life-changing skills of reading, writing, and speaking English that will enable them to participate and prosper in our society. LVA-PW serves over 700 adults each year.

Keepin' It Cool

Launched in late 2017, Cold Capital Fund provides financial assistance to DC/MD/VA chemotherapy patients who want to prevent hair loss using scalp cooling/cold caps but cannot afford it. Hair loss is the most devastating side effect of chemotherapy. Nearly 10% of cancer patients will opt out of treatment because of it and over 50% of cancer patients consider hair loss the most traumatic aspect of chemotherapy.
