Through Impact Club, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine,” and have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning a high-stakes competition. As a result, Impact Club, through Impact Venture Capitalism has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.
The Charities
The Carousel Center’s mission is two-fold: to meet the physical, emotional and psychological needs of children who have suffered physical or sexual abuse; and to improve the community through child abuse education and prevention. The Carousel Center vision is that each child served will have a better life after they leave the Center. Since opening its doors, TCC has provided Child Medical Examinations (CMEs) to over 4,000 children, and more than 7,800 trauma therapy sessions.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) now affects 1 in 68 children (1 in 42 for boys) and is defined as a developmental disability that causes significant social, communication, and behavioral difficulties. Although many children with autism may look “normal”, their social-communication deficits leave them feeling lonely, frustrated, rejected, and a target for bullying. We teach our students how to join in, take turns, have a conversation, and make friends so they can experience the same birthday parties, play dates, and sleepovers as typically developing children.
The Blue Ribbon Commission on the Prevention of Youth Violence (BRC) is a local independent non- profit that uses a youth focused, community centered public health approach to address the multiple factors that lead to youth violence in our community. Our ultimate goal is to create a sustainable model that ensures the development of strong self-sufficient families within communities that value and nurture our youth and fully prepare them for lifelong success.
