Because International

Because International believes in the power of innovation to help those challenged by poverty. We focus on practical compassion – small things that make a BIG difference. This is exemplified in our first project – an adjustable shoe called The Shoe That Grows. It is a durable, simple shoe that grows five sizes and lasts up to five years. We have distributed over 100,000 pairs of The Shoe That Grows to kids in over 90 countries. But now we are focused on the local need for kids in the Treasure Valley who struggle having sustainable, solid footwear. And we are employing local refugees to hand-make our shoes right here in Boise. We call this new program “Local-for-Local”: locally-made shoes for local kids. Our mission of practical compassion – small things (like shoes!) that make a BIG difference – drives us forward to try to help as many kids as possible around the world and especially here at home in the Treasure Valley.
