Union City: Donates $5,700

Through Impact Club, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine,” and have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning a high-stakes competition. As a result, Impact Club, through Impact Venture Capitalism has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.

The Charities

Daily Bowl
Lance Nishihira
Getting Rid Of Food Waste

Daily Bowl aims to rescue perfectly edible food destined for the waste stream and delivering it to agencies that feed people who are hungry. Since its founding in 2016, it has rescued tens of thousands of pounds of food from retailers, restaurants and institutional kitchens. Even though Alameda County is near the country’s economic epicenter of Silicon Valley, 20% of our students don’t know where their next meal is coming from. In addition to taking a bite out of food insecurity, Daily Bowl also reduces the environmental impact of food waste by curbing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Village Method
Mahea Gaskins
Achieving Academic Success

The Village Method seeks to create a united community that is invested in the success of its youth and families. We believe in maximizing the resources within our community, engaging families and empowering children to achieve social, academic and economic success. Focusing on Union City, California and southern Alameda County, we work to overcome the challenges that prevent African American students from achieving their full potential and provide pipeline for students to progress to college, careers and back to their community.

Centro De Servicios
Sgt. Steve Mendez
Low-Income Support

Established in 1974, Centro de Servicios is the oldest not-for-profit, social service agency in Alameda County’s Tri-City Area. Indeed, Centro is the sole provider of social services to low-income residents of Union City and neighboring cities. Recently celebrating 40 years of operations, our bilingual and bicultural staff now serves over 1,300 families per month, out of multiple locations. We are constantly fine-tuning and expanding our services and facilities to better provide for our community.
