Through Impact Club, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine,” and, have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning, a high-stakes competition. As a result, Impact Club, through Impact Venture Capitalism, has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.
The Charities
Platoon 22 in a Frederick County Maryland based 501c3. Our missions is to raise awareness for the suicide epidemic facing our Warriors and First Responders, while providing empowerment via programming and research. We are very happy to announce two program offerings in Frederick County, Maryland. Veteran Services Coordinator. This is a new in-house advocate to help Veterans and First Responders navigate therapeutic services in our area and with-in the Veteran Affairs systems.
The Up & Out Foundation was founded in 2015 by Korey Shorb. It is a non-profit with a mission to educate the public about the disease of addiction, the consequences of untreated addiction, and the process of recovery. Those involved with the foundation are actively involved in the community to dispel the myths and reduce the stigma associated with addiction by sharing stories and celebrating the success of recovery. The Up and Out Foundation provides scholarships for those addicts seeking treatment, and also helps fund medication for those who are uninsured.
RJ’s Lasting Strength Foundation was founded in 2017 by Chasity Fox in honor of her younger brother RJ Holmes. RJ was a 4.0 honor student, an athlete and excelled in music. He died in 2016 from an overdose of fentanyl-laced heroin. Having suffered through the tremendous grief of losing a loved-one, Chasity chose to extend her hand to the community with her initial goal of saving just one family from experiencing the heartbreak she and her family endured. In RJ’s stead, Chasity organized the Hope for Change Fest held in Frederick in honor of not only RJ but all those impacted by addiction.
