Special Olympics Frederick County

Special Olympics Frederick County (SOFC) offers YEAR-ROUND athletic training & competition in 16 different sports for people 8 years old and older with intellectual disabilities. SOFC offers our Frederick County athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and their community. SOFC’s purpose is to provide the following values to our athletes and everyone involved in our programs: community, friendship, integrity, opportunity, quality, and sportsmanship. These values guide all of our decisions and actions. SOFC programs are completely FREE for athletes and powered solely by local volunteers. While SOFC is part of the broader Special Olympics Maryland organization, every dollar donated to SOFC goes DIRECTLY to our local Frederick Country program. County-based programs, like ours, are responsible for the majority of our own fundraising.
