RJ’s Lasting Strength
RJ’s Lasting Strength Foundation was founded in 2017 by Chasity Fox in honor of her younger brother RJ Holmes. RJ was a 4.0 honor student. RJ was an athlete. RJ excelled in music. RJ died in 2016 from an overdose of fentanyl-laced heroin. Nobody saw this coming. This wasn’t supposed to happen, not to a good family and a young man with a bright future. Having suffered through the tremendous grief of losing a loved-one, Chasity chose to extend her hand to the community with her initial goal of saving just one family from experiencing the heartbreak she and her family endured. Her goals have, appropriately, evolved. Just as music doesn’t discriminate, nor does addiction. The language of music transcends the labels that separate people. RJ knew this and harnessed his musical talents to bring people together. In his stead, Chasity organized the Hope for Change Fest held in Frederick in honor of not only RJ but all those impacted by addiction. Chasity now has her sights set on establishing a recovery facility that can offer hope to those in the grips of this disease by facilitating their path to recovery and enabling them to giving back to their community.
