PHILLIPS Programs

PHILLIPS Programs is a private, nonprofit organization serving over 500 children annually and their families in the DMV. PHILLIPS serves the needs of individuals with emotional and behavioral health needs through education, family support services, community education and advocacy. For 51 years, PHILLIPS has helped children where others could not to prepare them to reach their potential and become productive young adults. PHILLIPS operates four schools, provides career and technical education programs, provides homebased and community-based family services and provides counseling, behavior management, life skills, reading, speech, occupational and physical therapies at all of our schools. Why are our programs mission critical activities? Consider two alarming facts: 1 in 5 children ages 13-18 have, or will encounter a serious mental health challenge. 70% of youth in state and local juvenile justice systems have behavioral health needs. Consider the story of Jenny. Jenny, a Family Partners client who was struggling with self-harm, social anxiety, depression and aggressive tendencies with her family members adopted positive coping strategies, better managed her depression and anxiety and utilized effective communication skills at home. Thanks to intensive home-based services combined with support from her school and family, she graduated!
