Matt’s Place Foundation
Matt Wild is a Coeur D’Alene native and Marine Corps Veteran who was diagnosed with ALS in 2015. ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that can cause those affected to lose the ability to speak, eat, move and breathe. According to recent studies, ALS can cost a patient and their family over $300,000 annually. While the financial impact of this disease for Matt was greatly lessened by VA benefits, he was alarmed to learn the financial impact ALS has on those who lack similar benefits. Matt and his wife Theresa realized that this was their chance to make a difference. With the help of family and friends, Matt’s Place Foundation was born. Founded in 2015, Matt’s Place Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity created to assist PALS (People with ALS) and their families during their battle with ALS. Its ultimate intention is to provide hope, housing and assistance. The Foundation accomplishes this mission by raising funds and distributing them to PALS through grants for accessibility ramps, remodels, housing, and transportation
