Lower Cape Fear Hospice

In 1980, hospice care in Wilmington started with a 28 year old nursing student named Sandy Morgan. She and her husband were among our first volunteers. Sandy dreamed of a life helping others. She didn’t know she would become our first patient, or that her illness and her journey would inspire a forty year legacy that is the core of our mission to this today – to provide the highest level of care and comfort to patients with life-limiting illnesses; support and counseling to families; and education to the community. Hospice care is holistic, and no one walks their journey alone. Our founding staff was privileged to care for Sandy. Every heart, hand, eye and medical mind was solely devoted to Sandy’s compassionate care. Today that devotion continues as 350+ team members serve nearly 700 hospice and palliative care patients daily… while touching the lives of thousands of family members. Every LCFH patient receives the same high quality care Sandy did, and there is always more work to do.  As the hospice of choice in nine counties in North and South Carolina, philanthropic support enables LCFH to serve our patients and their families wherever they call home.
