Genesis House

Genesis House, Inc. is a victim service agency providing free and confidential assistance to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Genesis House has been in existence since 1981 and is the only victim service agency in the rural counties of Macon, Clay, Pickett, Jackson, Overton, DeKalb, White, Smith, and Putnam. Our mission is to promote the general welfare of victims of domestic and sexual violence by providing shelter, goods and services while helping them find safety in their lives and the self-sufficiency and healing needed to become independent. To this end, it is also our mission to enlighten the community in the dynamics of domestic and sexual abuse and its prevention by providing comprehensive educational programs. The programs offered by Genesis House, Inc. are: emergency shelter, outreach, transitional housing, court advocacy/accompaniment, sexual assault advocacy, case management, training to professionals and law enforcement, transportation for survivors, support groups, professional counseling, brochures, emergency supplies and food for survivors.
