South Canterbury Donates $2,800.00
Through ImpactClub®, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine” and have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning a high-stakes competition. As a result, ImpactClub®, through Impact Venture Capitalism, has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.
The Charities
South Canterbury Kindergartens (SCK) manages 12 kindergartens located in Timaru, Temuka, Fairlie, Tekapo and Twizel. SCK is committed to the provision of quality early childhood education for all children. We believe children deserve high-quality early childhood education from qualified teachers in a caring and nurturing environment. We are a not for profit organization, all money is used in our local kindergarten community to support high quality teaching and learning for your child. All Kindergartens operate with a full 100% trained and registered teachers, you may not be aware that the governments minimum requirement for Early Childhood Education services is only 50% qualified staff. With all trained staff only then can we ensure high quality training for your child.
Presbyterian Support South Canterbury is the largest charitable service provider in South Canterbury. We provide a broad range of social services including Enliven Aged Care and Community Services and Family Works which is the division that provides social services for our tamariki, rangatahi and their family and whānau. Family Works delivers a variety of services and programmes to our communities most vulnerable people and is only partially funded. Working with over 1000 local families each year, our services are in great demand in our community – Grants, Fundraising and support from donors and the public is essential to keep programmes like ‘Free to be Me’ Family Violence programmes, The Buddy Mentoring Programme, Hidden Treasures parenting programme, our food bank and other services operating. Last year our organisation proudly celebrated 100 years of service provision in South Canterbury. Our longevity reflects our capacity to successfully identify and respond rapidly to change at multiple levels. Helping the most vulnerable people in our community is central to our mission.
Life Education is a charity that educates and empowers children to make healthy choices so they can live full and healthy lives. Every year we teach over 250,000 children about their body, friendships, their identity, food and nutrition and helpful and harmful substances. Today children and adolescents face a lot of challenges, including: obesity, substance use, mental health and well-being and bullying. The decisions we make as children can dramatically affect how we live our lives in the future – and this is why Life Education exists. Through education we help students to understand how decisions they make today can affect their future health and well-being.
