Eugene: Donates $7,300
Through Impact Club, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine,” and have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning a high-stakes competition. As a result, Impact Club, through Impact Venture Capitalism has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.
The Charities
Founded in 2008, Bags of Love is committed to helping children who are struggling with the damaging effects of abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness. Provided at no cost, a ‘bag of love’ is filled with age-appropriate necessities and comfort items including an outfit, socks and underwear, pajamas, toiletries, school supplies, books, toys and a handmade quilt or fleece blanket. Our goal is to provide a ray of hope and vital dignity for each child during this time of crisis. The need in our community is significant; 21.6% of Lane County children live below the poverty line and 4.7% of Lane County students are homeless.
Ophelia’s Place provides prevention and early intervention services that are sensitive to the needs of middle and high school age girls. Our safe environment helps and encourages young women to find their personal strengths, build self-esteem, and develop the skills and resilience to meet a future of challenges and opportunities. We strive to help girls ages 10-18:Nurture healthy relationships. Make healthy choices. Possess a healthy sense of self.
In the heart of the Willamette Valley, the place to heal and nurture homeless, neglected or abused animals is Greenhill Humane Society. We operate two shelters in Lane County and care for over 3,000 animals each year. The 1st Avenue location cares for stray or abandoned animals brought to us by Good Samaritans, Animal Welfare Officers and Police Officers. We reunite lost pets with their families, provide care for animals in crisis, and find new, loving homes for animals who have been abandoned. On Green Hill Road, we care for owner-surrendered pets and animals transferred from over-crowded shelters.
