Through ImpactClub®, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine” and have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning a high-stakes competition. As a result, ImpactClub®, through Impact Venture Capitalism, has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.
The Charities
Camp Alma is a former corrections compound outside Eugene, Oregon, which has been deeded over to Veterans Legacy Oregon. Renovations are underway to make this compound amenable for veterans with PTSD and homelessness. The camp is situated in the Oregon Coast Range on 105 acres of bare and treed land. The camp has goals of making a nearly self-sustaining facility for veterans, who will be working on healing through agriculture and the peace of their surroundings.
It was 12 years ago when twin boys, Jackson and Ethan, came into our world. At two years and nine months, Ethan was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. Suddenly, this beautiful world of opportunity and hope, turned into a fog of confusion and grief. Our feelings of isolation and fear were overwhelming. Will Ethan ever read? Will Ethan ever be potty-trained, ride a bike or have real friends? What do we do now?
Addressing a crisis in child literacy, Eugene Public Library Foundation partners with Eugene Public Library, offering Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Eugene’s children. United Way data shows that over 50% of Eugene’s and 82% of Bethel’s incoming kindergartners do not meet the state’s early literacy benchmarks. Many cannot identify a single letter or sound. Oregon’s early literacy levels continually rank among the lowest in the country.
