ShelterBox USA Inc.
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter and supplies to families devastated by natural disasters and conflict. Delivered by our volunteers, ShelterBoxes and ShelterKits contain materials to meet basic survival needs, to give hope, transform lives and help to rebuild communities. Our mission in Northern Virginia is to create awareness of ShelterBox and seek financial support for our work. Started as a Rotary Club project in Cornwall, UK in 2000, the ShelterBox International Trust is now a respected charity with affiliates around the world, including the USA. ShelterBox is Rotary’s only Project Partner for disaster relief. This relationship is critical to the mission of ShelterBox since Rotary International has Clubs in 200 countries and areas around the world. Rotarians in disaster areas and conflict zones have assisted with 90% of our deployments. In its history ShelterBox has served in over 100 countries, including the US. We have responded to over 300 events and have served over 1.3 million people. During 2017 ShelterBox responded in 21 countries and delivered aid to 162,000 people. Recognizing our work serving refugees, promoting peace one family at a time, ShelterBox International was nominated for the 2018 Nobel Peace prize.
