Neighbors N Need
Neighbors N Need was founded in the Seattle area after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In 2003, the Founder (Sherri Richardson) moved to north Idaho and in later years found that the nonprofit had lost management & was revoked by the IRS. Sherri then reinstated the organization with the IRS in Post Falls, ID in 2016. Due to Covid-19, a team was brought together this year to provide humanitarian relief. Throughout December 2020, we were able to provide a clothing bank, a giving tree, free toy distribution, and a holiday event to support over 200 family members/neighbors. These opportunities also led to community support to lease a building in Post Falls and to create a plan to open a Sensory Play Center. Our Grand Opening for Neighbors N Need’s Sensory Play Center and Thrift Boutique is January 22, 2021. Our “Presley Program” is a program in which we offer support to families in need such as grief, house fires, job loss, etc. Presley was our Founder’s granddaughter who passed from CDH in 2018. Kootenai County statistics reflect one in six children is diagnosed with Autism. With all of our community needs, we need to maintain a focus on our future’s mental and emotional health by encouraging full inclusion play.
