The Charities

Campagna Academy
Al Gandolfi
Changing the World one Child at a Time

Founded over 70 years ago as Hoosier Boys’ Town, Campagna Academy today continues as a mission centered, vision-inspired, “for-impact” organization that still believes the world can be changed one child at a time. We give at-risk children a second chance in life, providing safe housing, therapeutic treatment, foster care, and education. In individual therapy, clients receive weekly individual sessions that are typically an hour to an hour-and-a half in length. Clients also attend weekly skills group. Unlike with regular group psychotherapy, these skills groups emerge as classes during which clients learn four sets of important skills – Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. Additionally, we are the only certified child welfare organization in NWI Indiana that offers specialized residential treatment to children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). Our life-changing programs impact over 500 youth and families annually. Throughout our history, we’ve also recognized the importance of community and have worked diligently in developing and maintaining strong relationships that advance our mission of Restoring Hope and Building Dreams. Any charitable giving helps up impact the lives of hundreds of at-risk children in ways that allow them to grow into successful, happy, and productive adults, with new dreams and new beginnings

Superhero Training and Supply
Robin Sizemore
Superhero Training

Superhero Training and Supply, Inc. is a non-profit social-emotional learning organization using yoga, mindfulness, and creative arts for youth to address depression, anger, anxiety and stress. Why are we called Superheroes? Superheroes use their abilities and strengths to help those in need. We train students (and adults!) to be superheroes by learning about their brains as well as breathing and movement techniques so they can help others. Our origin story begins in 2014 with an 8th grader whose panic attacks progressed to generalized anxiety and clinical depression. Counseling, psychiatry, and mediation helped but this superhero needed to be empowered to take care of herself. The book 10% Happier and a podcast episode featuring the Holistic Life Foundation supplies the information, then tools and skills to self-regulate. Superhero Training was officially a nonprofit and in the fall of 2016 we started helping students in the Hammond schools. We’ve provided teacher training sessions in Northwest I Diana, Chicago, and Alabama and after school Superhero Training for students. We’ve earned certification to teach yoga to individuals in urban settings. In May of 2019, trainer Robin Sizemore received certification in Applied Neuroplasticity from Butler. So now we teach superheroes and their adults about how their brains work.

Exceptional Equestrians Unlimited
Sandi DeVries
Riding with Purpose

Since 1979, Exceptional Equestrians Unlimited, Inc.’s (EEU) mission has been to provide educational and therapeutic horseback riding activities to those with special needs of all ages for an improved quality of life utilizing professional instructors and trained volunteers in a safe and secure environment. Horseback riding has been widely recognized as one of the most beneficial forms of therapeutic recreation. Benefits include improvement in: self esteem; balance; self confidence; coordination; social interaction; muscle tone; learning skills; and posture. Through the union of horse and rider, individuals with special needs reach their highest potential, thus making a difference in their lives and the lives of others. To further this aim, in 1986 EEU became an affiliate member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH), an accreditation and licensing system designed to improve the well-being of therapeutic equine professionals. The Premier Accredited Center Program that PATH offers allows centers the chance to demonstrate their excellence in providing quality, professional equine assisted activities. This voluntary process certifies that PATH centers have met established industry standards. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charity, governed by a volunteer board of directors, and welcome any/all support!
