Northern VA: Donates $17,000
Through Impact Club, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine,” and have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning a high-stakes competition. As a result, Impact Club, through Impact Venture Capitalism has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.
The Charities
Fairy Godmother Project’s (FGP) became a non-profit in 2012 with a mission to ease the burden of everyday life for local families who have a child in treatment for a form of pediatric cancer. FGP provides support for our families from point of contact until the end of treatment. FGP focuses the majority of their efforts on the parents to alleviate their stress through both emotional and financial support, allowing the parents to better care for themselves and their families. Presently, FGP has two different programs that focus on the parents’ stress, health and wellness.
Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) has been fostering hope, providing relief, and promoting self-sufficiency for our neighbors for nearly fifty years. We do this by providing for their most basic physical needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter, as well as emotional healing from the effects of domestic violence, sexual assault, and suicide. Last year, we provided services for nearly 93,000 individuals. ACTS was also here to provide hope to 38,000 callers in crisis.
For over 30 years, Project Mend-A-House (PMAH) has assisted seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and low-income residents of Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park clients remain and age-in-place safely and independently in their own homes. Our primary program is home repair, safety, and accessibility modifications; our volunteers build wheelchair accessible ramps, motorized lifts, modify doorways, secure flooring, repair leaky faucets, restore electricity and make basic home repairs.
