Through ImpactClub®, as Impact Venture Capitalists, we invest heavily in local charities that demonstrate a powerful “Story Engine” and have proven their willingness to fight for their cause – by competing in and winning a high-stakes competition. As a result, ImpactClub®, through Impact Venture Capitalism, has dramatically multiplied the Impact that a single person can have on charities in their local community.
The Charities
I’ve always been a fat girl. A stupid girl. Unworthy of love. I am a failure. Depressed. Lonely. Lost. I’ve attempted suicide. Been abused. Raped. My parents divorced. I was homeless. I got lost in the shuffle. My brother is in jail. I am raising his daughter. I am 22 years old. I have two children of my own. I’ve been bullied. Humiliated by teachers. Fired from my job. I’ve done drugs. Seen my parent overdose. I am the first one in my family to finish school. I am lost. I am stuck. But, I am ready to take a step forward…These are just a few statements we’ve heard in interviews with young women who come to us seeking mentorship.
Community Living is a nonprofit that supports people who have Down syndrome, autism, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve only adults, which makes us unique in our field. Though many people assume children with ID/DD are most in need of support, that’s not necessarily the case. In fact, as children get older, their needs tend to increase. We are here to provide the support the people we serve need to live full, independent lives
The Animal Welfare League of Frederick County (AWLFC) is an all-volunteer, no-kill animal rescue and welfare organization. We promote the humane treatment of all animals through education, advocacy, and collaboration with other humane organizations.
