Our Story
The Delaplaine Arts Center provides the Frederick region with educational opportunities and experiences in the visual arts through classes, exhibits, and programs. Established in 1986, the Delaplaine has grown from a grassroots organization to a premier art education facility welcoming more than 80,000 visitors annually. Visitors can view more than 50 exhibitions featuring local, regional, and national artists; participate in more than 250 classes and workshops, and experience a variety of engaging programs each year.
We are dedicated to removing barriers and providing meaningful art opportunities for all in the community. Our Community Outreach Initiative reflects our vision that “everyone deserves art,” partnering us with local nonprofits and service organizations to ensure that art experiences are available to underserved and at-risk audiences. Our outreach programs, as well as most of our public programs, are free of charge. The Delaplaine is open daily, and admission is always free.We are deeply grateful for the support we receive from the community and take stewardship and accountability seriously. The Delaplaine is accredited in the national Standards for Excellence program, awarded Platinum Seal Status by Guidestar, and included in the Catalogue for Philanthropy as one of the best nonprofits in the DC Metro region.
