Our Story
Summit Dog, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides customized Animal Assisted Programs to achieve quantifiable objectives in education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, psycho-therapy & counseling, as well as non-measurable objectives such as comfort and/or calming interactions. Our therapy animal teams visit children, youth in crisis, court-involved youth, people with special needs, veterans, the sick, poor, homeless, elderly, and anyone in need of our special type of services. Although many of our clients have special needs, disabilities, post-traumatic stress, or at-risk behaviors, we serve everyone in the community. We go to schools, medical & rehabilitation centers, day programs, memory care, juvenile detention, courthouses, colleges, suicide prevention workshops, and the list goes on! We make an impact by using our dogs as a means of relating with our clientele and making a connection with them. Summit Dog provides detailed specifications for the testing, health care, and temperament to qualify our teams for various levels of therapy work. We have both professional teams that require a high level of skill and experience, as well as volunteers who may be starting their training as a future Summit Therapy Dog Team. We truly make a difference in people’s lives, while doing something we LOVE!!!
