Our Story

Power Paws for Kids is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit Animal Assisted Therapy organization that was formed in 2008. We were incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2010. Our volunteers, along with their personal trained dogs, are the backbone of our organization. We support the communities with an animal-assisted program to help promote health and well-being through positive interactions with animals. We provide reading sessions in schools and public libraries with students so they can practice and develop confidence in their reading skills. During these sessions, students read aloud to Power Paws volunteers and their dog. The process builds the confidence of these students and provides them with an exciting stress-free environment to practice their reading skills. We also provide visits to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Residents look forward to interacting with their four-legged friends and are forming bonds with the dogs and their respective owners. Our visits add warmth and extra love to the lives of these residents.
