Our Story
The Inland Northwest SIDS Foundation was founded in 2012 by a group of women passionate about supporting families and reducing infant death from unsafe sleep accidental deaths in our community. We realized there were absolutely no resources for those affected by the death of their babies or any agency dedicated to providing safe infant sleep education; thus, Inland Northwest SIDS Foundation was formed. Since then, we’ve provided Safe Infant Sleep education so that every parent, caregiver, childcare provider, and health professional is aware of current evidence-based practices to reduce the risk of sudden infant death. We provide the following opportunities at no cost: 6 “Safe Sleep 101” classes every month covering the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics; professional training to agencies who care for infants such as hospitals, churches, child care centers, shelters and classrooms; a website complete with videos, articles on Safe Infant Sleep, literature and posters from national resources; and, distribution of portable cribs and sleep-sacks to agencies serving infants and their caregivers. We are also committed to providing emotional and informational support to anyone affected by pregnancy or infant loss. We want families to know that they are not alone in this unimaginable time of loss, and are accessible 24/7 through our support line.
