We are Kenny and Elizabeth Barnes. We have one daughter, Kelly that was born and raised here in Wilmington, graduated from Hoggard High School and attended East Carolina University. Because of her major, she moved to Atlanta for her internship and became a wonderful teacher. In September 2009 our Kelly was diagnosed with cancer. We learned first hand what a person diagnosed with cancer, their family and friends experience. Kelly was the first individual in our family diagnosed with cancer and we did not know what we didn’t know. The emotion of fear was tremendous! It was an extremely difficult time in our lives as we did not know where to turn, who to reach out to and how would we get through this experience. As we made our way through our daughter’s cancer experience, we learned how to advocate for our daughter and to navigate our way through the medical treatment. Because of what we learn and strive to stay abreast of current research that is discovered, it is our heart’s desire to provide the following services for all patients, men and women, teens and children diagnosed with any type of cancer.
