Our Story

Global Talent Idaho (GTI), a program of Jannus, Inc., is a job readiness and placement program for highly-skilled immigrants and refugees in Southern Idaho. Our mission is to solve the significant social issues that highly educated people face when they are unemployed or underemployed: poverty, lack of health care, poor mental health, dependence on food stamps and other subsidies, housing burden, and poor civic engagement. To that end, GTI harnesses an entrepreneurial job placement model that optimizes economic opportunity and healthy futures by increasing the employability of highly educated refugees and immigrants. At the same time, GTI is creating a more diverse, vibrant, and talented workforce in Idaho. GTI’s program addresses the enormous barriers to professional employment faced by refugees and immigrants with advanced degrees and interrupted careers, including challenges understanding U.S. labor culture, limited spoken and written professional English, lack of social capital, limited experience with U.S. resume writing, applications, and interviewing, and often, employer bias towards foreign degrees and experience. Since the program started in 2015, GTI has helped to place 72 immigrant and refugee job seekers back into professional positions in their field, with alumni earning an average income gain of $28K annually.
