Our Story

Food Finders is nonprofit whose core mission is to end hunger and food waste by diverting food that is going to waste to food insecure communities. Food Finders is the link between donating food from agencies such as grocery stores, restaurants, hotels, and convenient stores to partnering agencies like: shelters, food pantries, and churches. The amount of food that is being rescued each year is exponentially growing and in 2018 we are on track to divert 10 million pounds of food to our partnering agencies. It is said that there are 42 million people in America who live in food insure homes. In Los Angeles alone there are 50,000 to 60,000 people living on the streets on any given day. Of those, 31% are female and 9 % are under the age of 18. Food Finders has been around for over 29 years and we believe that we play a critical role in feeding people in food insecure communities. On average, Food Finders helps provide enough food for 22,000 meals a day, reducing the amount of food insecurity and food waste prevalent throughout Southern California where we serve. Money donated to Food Finders will directly go to the food programs to feed kids, families, and people in the community.
