Our Story
Located in Wilmington, Elderhaus provides the only two adult day care centers in the area. As seniors and retirees increasingly choose our region to call home, it is more important now than ever that we have the resources in place to meet their long-term care needs. Elderhaus has several programs designed to meet seniors where they are. The most comprehensive program, PACE assumes responsibility for seniors as their health care provider. The program provides transportation both to and from their day center Monday-Friday where participants are monitored by our physician, nurses, nurse aides, and social workers. A person-centered plan is crafted for each participant where physical therapy, occupational therapy, prescriptions, homecare, and specialist visits are available based upon need. In addition to medical care, our staff is proactive in offering a variety of recreational activity to keep seniors engaged. The Activities Coordinator, Activities Aide, and volunteers coordinate choir performances, painting classes, seated yoga, guided meditation, monthly field trips, and much more. In addition to New Hanover County, Elderhaus services extend to residents of Northern Brunswick County and Hampstead in Pender County.
