Our Story
Carin’ About The Strays is based out of Cookeville TN and serves Putnam County and surrounding areas. We specialize in pregnant females, orphaned kittens, and injured animals which are treated at Ragland and Riley Veterinary Hospital. Our rescued animals are placed in a foster home where they can be socialized and house trained, which gives them a better chance to be adopted, improving the success rate and satisfaction for both our feline friends and families. Though primarily a cat rescue, we provide assistance to other animals, regardless of background: stray to orphaned, negative environments, and/or prior owner hardships. For these reasons, we rely heavily on volunteers, and are always on the lookout for people who are ready/willing to be foster parents. Fostering animals is a highly rewarding experience for everyone involved. Many of these animals arrive scared and untrusting. Becoming a foster parent helps these animals overcome the obstacles and hardships they face, learn to be content in normal human interactions, and lead more fulfilling lives. Anything and everything is welcome in the way of donations, including various supplies, which helps the physical and emotional well being of the animals in our care–our number one priority.
