Our Story

Blessings in a Backpack motivates individuals, communities, and businesses to provide non-perishable, kid-friendly food to local school children every weekend and over school breaks when school meals are unavailable. We are an all-volunteer local organization committed to raising awareness about childhood hunger. Each week 75-90 volunteers pick-up, pack, and deliver food to 2,500+ local children in 17 Frederick schools. We are very grateful for the amazing support received from the Frederick Impact Club in 2017. The generosity of these awesome individuals collectively ensured 230+ local children hunger-free weekend and school breaks for the entire 2017-18 school year. We can’t wait for our next opportunity to share this year’s story and the children on our waiting list.
