Our Story
CASA Children’s Intervention Services (CASA CIS) was founded in 1993 to serve the abused and neglected children of Prince William County. Since then, the program has expanded to serve the children of Fauquier, Rappahannock and Warren Counties as well. Local judges appoint volunteer CASA advocates to children who have entered the court system due to abuse and neglect. These highly-trained advocates meet with the child(ren) monthly, as well as all other parties in the case, and submit reports and recommendations as to what is in the best interest of the child(ren) directly to the court. The first class of advocates was trained in 1994 and the first child was appointed a CASA in January of 1995. Last year alone, CASA CIS served over 300 children suffering from abuse and neglect. Our mission is to protect and serve children who are abused, neglected, or endangered, and to provide a voice in court for these children in crisis. Our ultimate goal is to help ensure that each of these children find the safe, loving, permanent home every child deserves.
