Our Story
The Post Falls Food Bank operates as a multi-service food bank market, addressing a wide variety of community needs. We provide not only supplemental nutritious food to families living in poverty, but offer education on nutrition and cooking, budgeting, and meal planning. We also provide a resource specialist who helps our families navigate through the often confusing social services network to address other basic needs issues. Not only do we provide weekly supplemental food through our Market for residents of Post Falls and Rathdrum, but we provide several thousand pounds of food every week to other Kootenai County non-profits to support their food distribution efforts in their neighborhoods. Lastly, we operate a Weekend Nutrition Backpack Program, which provides weekend food to 110 children living in poverty in Post Falls. Additionally, we provide food closets inside the middle and high schools in Post Falls for students that are homeless and living in poverty. In 2017 the Post Falls Food Bank logged over 26,000 miles in our food rescue truck, collected over 1.5 million pounds of food, and served over 60,000 individuals throughout Kootenai County.
