Our Story
AquAbility provides therapeutic aquatic programs for children with disabilities including: Autism, Developmental Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Cord Injuries, Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Amputation, and Auditory and Visual Impairments. The goals of AquAbility therapeutic aquatic programs include improving physical and cognitive abilities, raising self-esteem, promoting lifetime exercise, providing positive social interaction, developing independence, improving quality of life, achieving aquatic skills and water safety, providing positive social interaction, and recovery and rehabilitation following injury or accident. Swim skills are a bonus, leading to participation in community and family activities and increasing water safety. AquAbility sessions are private 30 minute weekly sessions. Most attend all year long and many children have been with us for years. AquAbility was founded in 2010 in Ketchum. The headquarters was moved to Boise in 2010. AquAbility and now has programs in ketchum, Boise, Eagle, With Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind, and in Coeur d’Alene in September 2018. Our goal is to continue to expand to help people with disabilities all around Idaho and beyond. To assist with training and providing qualified instructors, AquAbility has a new and unique certification program developed by Director/Founder Karen Morrison.
